Literacy learning links online

Here are a few useful websites that you may like to try at home to support your child with their literacy.  Just click on the images to visit the sites. There is a short review below on each site.

The Love my books website is full of ideas to help you support your child with their home reading.  You can see plenty of videos of reading in action, lots of craft ideas connected to stories and links to story videos.

The Oxford owl is an excellent website that we also make use of in school.  You may be asked to create a parent account but there is no charge for the site and plenty of free resources to make use of.  There is an excellent library of ebooks on this site, many with linked activities.  You will also find storyteller videos that your child may enjoy watching to access a book.  The site has resources for maths and other areas too and is definitely worth exploring.

The National literacy trust has some great free activities, plenty of reading resources and lots of links to other literacy opportunities.

All of these sites are regularly updated and a great source of inspiration if you are stuck when supporting your child.  If you need any further advice with helping your child at home, please speak to their class teacher or to Mrs Bruen at school.
