Vocabulary

One of the main aims of the National Curriculum is: to reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry, conjecturing relationships and generalisations, and developing an argument, justification or proof using mathematical language.

For children to use mathematical vocabulary to present justifications and arguments or provide proof, they must first of all have the mathematical vocabulary and understanding to do this. For this reason, vocabulary development is high priority within our ‘Mastery’ curriculum.
